Trump’s border policy decreased demand

60% of families applying for Healey Hotel rooms in the last two weeks “could not provide required verification” according to a new report released by the Healey administration.

The state has spent $735M on the program so far this fiscal year, at the current burn rate, Healey will spend slightly less on the program than the $894M she spent last year.

Of the 480 families that applied for Healey Hotel rooms in the last two weeks, 296 could not provide the required verification, but only 5 were denied. 265 families were designated “pending.”

Caseloads continue to drop due to Trump’s border policy but still rage much higher than pre-invasion levels with 4604 current families staying for an average of 364 days. Healey also is decreasing hotel usage in favor of moving families to the rental housing market by expanding the HomeBase program.
